“Anemoia” is a bold, character-driven sci-fi short film that uses the genre to explore timeless human questions about access, equity, and the psychological toll of exclusion. Set in a near-future reality, the film imagines a world where humanity receives a simple gift: universal access. However, this opportunity quickly fractures under the weight of human division. Inspired by “The Twilight Zone” and “La Jetée,” the film employs speculative storytelling to explore the emotional and societal terrain of inner space rather than outer space. It raises critical questions: Who gets what they need—and why? What happens when access is unequally distributed, even when available to all?

Told through an ensemble cast representing a spectrum of cultural and social identities, “Anemoia” serves as both a compelling narrative and a social commentary on the systems governing opportunity. With a strong representation of BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ individuals both in front of and behind the camera, the film prioritizes voices often excluded from genre filmmaking, weaving them into a story that encourages reflection on contemporary structures of privilege.
