Supporting student-led initiatives exploring open payments and financial inclusion
Learning by Doing
Interledger on Campus supports student-led clubs and projects with the funding and support to explore how open financial systems work, whether that’s through hackathons, workshops, research, entrepreneurship initiatives, or peer-driven learning experiences. What matters is genuine curiosity about how financial systems are designed, who they serve, and how they could work better.

What We Look For
Applications must be student-led and supported by a faculty supervisor or university department. All applicants should submit:
- A completed application form via Submittable
- A 2-page concept note
- A budget and timeline with key milestones
- An institutional letter of support confirming fund management and oversight

What is the timeline?
- Priority review for projects in first half of the year
- Projects are expected to run for no longer than 3 months
- Projects must be completed by December 31, 2026
What are the application requirements?
Applicants will submit a short application that includes:
- A completed application form via Submittable.
- A 2-page concept note
- A budget and timeline document, outlining key milestones
- An institutional letter of support from an accredited higher education institution confirming fund management and oversight.
Who can apply?
- Existing or new student-led clubs, societies or associations at accredited higher education institutions.
- Clubs must be focused on business, finance, computer science, engineering, public policy, governance or related fields.
Can individual students apply directly to Interledger on Campus?
Yes, as long as the project has faculty or institutional support.
Does every project need a technical component?
No. Projects can focus on education, research, community engagement, experimentation, or technical development.
What are eligible activities?
Funding may support student-organized initiatives such as:
- Workshops and training sessions on open payments
- Campus hackathons or innovation challenges
- Student research, policy briefs, or publications
- Campus awareness campaigns and cross-club activations.
- Development of small technology prototypes or payment tools
How long can projects run?
Projects can run for up to 3 months.
Is faculty supervision required?
Yes. All projects must have support from a faculty supervisor, department, or recognized university organization.
