Gavin Chait is a data scientist, researcher, engineer, and African science fiction author. He leads software and systems development in open access research, focusing on ethics and curation. His work blends technology, geopolitics, and storytelling, and he writes speculative fiction inspired by myth, technology, and global change.
Ambassador Project
Hop Sauna is a software stack designed to reimagine how creators and their supporters exchange money online. It is built for developers looking to accelerate web development projects with a template full-feature progressive web application.
The platform simplifies complex but routine components of development, including authentication, open payments integration, and deployment configuration, allowing developers to focus on building creative and commercial tools.
What Inspired His Work
"Financial exclusion arises because individuals don’t have access to the formal economy."
Gavin has spent much of his professional life working in developmentally challenged environments, from informal settlements around Cape Town to creative and professional communities across the African continent. His work focuses on expanding access to financial systems so creators and entrepreneurs can participate fully in the global economy.
Vision for the Future
"Diversity will arise naturally, instead of one centralised company algorithmically deciding on a common 'culture', communities will each express their own independent creativity."
He envisions a federated financial ecosystem where communities maintain independence while still interacting seamlessly, enabling more inclusive and diverse forms of commerce and participation.
