Kakoma has over 17 years of experience in software engineering, 8 of which were spent in MTN, Africa's largest telecommunications company, holding various telecom & software engineering positions through the years. He designed, built and supported the company's loyalty platform that, in months, grew to support 4 million customers. As MTN’s Principal VAS & New Solutions engineer, Peter led a team that set up infrastructure to support internal products for the company's 10 million customers and designed, built and supported hundreds of company solutions such as the data & voice bundle provisioning system. As a Senior Consultant at Andela, an international software development company, he was a lead developer and technical team lead for one of Andela’s offshore clients in the Financial technology space, where he built a reward platform that processed credit card transactions to be used by, among others, Heritage Bank Nigeria. He also served as a mentor and technical resource to other engineers on the team across 3 African countries. He is deeply invested in the tech ecosystem in Uganda as a mentor at hackathons, speaker at Hubs and tech consultant to some startups.
