We call our project: “_Teaching Artists to Fish” _playing on the adage “you can give a person a fish and they will eat for a day. If you teach a person to fish, they will eat for a lifetime.” Artist Rescue Trust aims to help artists have sustainable income during and after COVID-19 using the power of the web. We launched ART in March 2020 as a COVID-19 direct relief program, giving $500/month for 3 months to approved artist applicants. To date we have given $1500 to 58 artists and received over 750 applications. We evaluate based on our eligibility requirements (se abre en una pestaña nueva) and if they meet the standard we place them in our qualified pool. Then we choose the number of grantees we can support randomly from the qualified pool.

Prototyping a workflow and open source API endpoints that allow users to easily store data on Permanent.org using a one-time micropayment, with no need for storing financial data or making financial commitments. By identifying and mocking up components that are not readily available, we will identify missing ecosystem components and chart a course toward enabling anyone to purchase storage from Web Monetized storage providers.

This project ensures GftW proposals support open standardization by addressing often-overlooked web development aspects that hinder global scaling and impact. Key issues include: ● Privacy: Protecting user information to maintain trust and utility. ● Security: Establishing defenses against attackers and extortion. ● Internationalization: Designing for global accessibility beyond local markets. ● Accessibility: Ensuring the web is usable for individuals with disabilities. ● Device independence: Enabling functionality across all web-connected devices. ● Architectural consistency: Following established patterns for interoperability.

Creating multiple examples of Web Monetization applications, including video and audio streaming use case examples with optional advertisement support and, an example of a multi-publisher blog, with an accompanying web components library. We chose web components because they can be used in many front-end contexts, including React and Vue. We aim to take the shroud off the Web Monetization API using our industry reach, and show through highly visual examples how one might use our web component library in their projects.
