Lend Your Expertise to the Call for Papers
The Interledger Foundation is building a global panel of experts to steer the selection and review process for our Call for Papers (CfP). This is the grant program that commissions independent academic research on open payments, interoperability, and access to digital financial services.
We want to hear from experienced researchers, practitioners, and scholars from any discipline with expertise in financial inclusion, open payments, and related areas, and who are willing to lend their time to the work. We are especially keen to hear from individuals based in the Global South.

What it involves
- Join as a Selection Committee member, a paper reviewer, or both

- We will hold your details and add them to our reviewer pool.
- We will contact you once a paper is selected that matches your expertise.

Two Ways to Take Part
When you submit your interest, you can indicate whether you would like to serve in either role, or both:
- Selection Committee Member: help shape which proposals move forward, assessing them against the published criteria for the cycle. Reviews will be assigned randomly based on your expertise and availability.
- Peer Reviewer: lend your expertise to peer review selected final abstracts at the midterm and end of the grant that fall specifically within your area of expertise.
If you are invited to join the Selection Committee or contacted to be a Peer Reviewer, you will receive an honorarium in appreciation of your expertise and service.
We intend to form a pool of qualified individuals from this EOI process and draw from it based on the applications received and/or the topics of papers to review, contacting panel members with aligned interests and expertise

Who can join the panel?
Experienced researchers and scholars from any discipline with expertise in financial inclusion, open payments, or related areas. This includes faculty, independent and unaffiliated researchers, and qualified practitioners with a demonstrated research track record. We particularly welcome experts based in the Global South.
What is the time commitment?
Reviewers work on a per-cycle basis. When a cycle begins, you will be asked to confirm your availability and, if you are a Paper Reviewer, whether the shortlisted papers match your expertise. If you confirm, you complete reviews of your assigned papers and take part in discussion rounds with fellow reviewers.
Do I have to commit to every cycle?
No. You are on a standing panel and confirm your availability on a grant cycle-by-cycle basis. If a cycle does not fit your schedule or expertise, you can choose to opt out.
Is the role paid?
Reviewers receive an honorarium as appreciation and service per grant cycle. The compensation will be fulfilled in two installments: the first at the start of the cycle and the second on completion.
How do I apply?
Submit your CV and a short expression of interest using our form. It takes about five minutes. You can indicate whether you would like to serve on the Selection Committee, as a paper reviewer, or both.
