María José Roa

María José Roa holds a bachelor's degree in Economics from Carlos III University in Madrid and a PhD in Economics and Business Sciences from the Autonomous University of Madrid, Spain. She has thirty years of experience in research and teaching. She currently works as a researcher, professor, and international consultant with governments and public institutions, research centers and universities, foundations, and international organizations. Her work agenda integrates gender gaps and social norms, behavioral economics and neuroscience, inclusion, financial health and education, and national strategies for financial education and inclusion. Dr. Roa coordinates courses and diploma programs in Financial Education and Inclusion for universities and public and private institutions. She has taught at various universities and research centers in Spain, Mexico, and the United States. For nine years, she worked as a senior researcher at the Center for Latin American Monetary Studies (CEMLA), supporting central banks in the region in the development of financial education and inclusion programs. Her research work has been presented at conferences and published in indexed international journals and several books. She is a member of the Research Committee of the OECD's International Financial Education Network and the Advisory Committee of FinEquity ALC, CGAP, World Bank.
