For international travelers visiting South Africa to attend the Interledger Summit 2024, you can use the resources below to check if you need to apply for a visa.

Getting around in Cape Town

Public transport in Cape Town can be unreliable and often not recommended.
Taking an Uber:
- Taking an Uber is an easy way to get around without having to worry about driving or parking.
- It is customary to tip your driver between 10 -15% for your trip on the app.
- We recommend booking your return trip to the airport ahead of time.
- Far-flung places: If you arrange a trip to a remote location, be cognizant of when you will need to get back and check to see if there will be an Uber available to assist you with a return ride.
Hiring a car:
- Car hire can be arranged at the airport, but it is recommended that you book beforehand if you are looking for a specific vehicle.
- Parking:
  - Be prepared for lots of parallel parking in Cape Town.
  - You will need to pay for parking on the street in the city center at a rate of ~R5.00 per 15min. Parking attendants will issue you a ticket depending on time you intend to stay and you can pay with cash, card or SnapScan.
