Hacktober with Interledger

Join open-source contributors around the world and help build open payments this October.

Get ready for Hacktober 2026! Throughout October (October 1–31), join the Interledger Foundation in strengthening our open-source ecosystem. We are excited to collaborate with builders, developers, and enthusiasts around the globe!

About Hacktober

Hacktoberfest (opens in a new tab) is an annual event that promotes open-source contributions throughout October. It aims to support and give back to open-source projects that underpin today’s tech infrastructure. Over the past decade, thousands of coders and non-coders have joined to support their favorite projects, improve their skills, and connect with like-minded open-source enthusiasts. We express our support for this initiative by running a Hacktober program of activities to engage the open source community.

Two Ways to Contribute This Year

1. Contribute to open issues in any of our GitHub repositories

If you choose to contribute with code, a qualifying pull request (PR) must:

  • Directly tackle and resolve one of the open issues listed in the event repositories.
  • Demonstrate original thought, genuine effort, and personal understanding rather than unedited, generic AI-generated content (‘AI slop’).
  • Adhere to the Interledger Foundation AI policies and guidelines.

2. Bug Squashing on Our New Website

We just launched our new website! Help us polish and refine the user experience! Submit your findings, feedback, and issue reports to our Hacktober Feedback Form (opens in a new tab).

What to look for:

  • Broken or misdirected links
  • Grammatical typos or formatting errors
  • Usability suggestions and structural fixes

Step-by-step Process:

  1. Step 1: Head to https://interledger.org
  2. Step 2: Peruse, poke around, test things out!
  3. Step 3: Report any bugs, suggestions or fixes using this form (opens in a new tab)

Contribution Guidelines and AI Policy

We value original thought, creative thinking, and detailed specificity. Participants are welcome to use AI tools, however, submissions that consist mostly or entirely of unedited, generic AI-generated content will not be accepted. Please review our AI Policies & Guidelines below.
